Hope You Guess My Name.

It’s Peter, Peter Russell, Peter James Russell in fact, at least when I’m writing.

Writing, of one kind or another, has been the nature of my game for most of my adult life. For many years I worked, whisper it, in the belly of the beast, as a copywriter and a creative director in what used to be called advertising.

OK, I know, and I know that in some eyes this precludes me from ever being able to consider myself a writer in anything but name, but I though it best to get all that out of the way at the start. Anyway Fay Weldon wrote ‘Go To Work On An Egg’.

Whatever, for my part I have published a collection of essays, My Choice Of Words, a novel, The Drawing Board, and a short collection of poetry, Clearing My Throat. Lozenges. A Packet Of 24 Small Poems, will be published in January.

In preparation for that, and for some planned live shows before the end of the year, I shall be migrating my work (usually at least one short poem every Monday, and one essay every month) from other platforms to Substack.

Please feel free to let me know if there’s anything in any of it that you like, or not as the case may be, and, of course, to share anything that you think I might like too.
