The Magic Money Tree

They say there is no magic money tree but in fact there are whole forests

Though their abundant fruits don’t ever seem to fall to those entirely honest

They don’t grow everywhere or anywhere that would be just too plebeian

But for some mysterious reason they really seem to flourish in The Caribbean 

The British cultivate them there and on islands in the Chanel such as Sark

Their Empire safe from sunset because God knows they can’t be trusted in the dark

They seem to do their best in shady spots but no-one really seems to know  

All the same it’s an extraordinary plant that lets you reap far more than you sow

They attract all sorts of parasites yet seem immune to any form of scrutiny or taxes

And it’s only said they don’t exist by those who hear the grinding of our axes
